no harm in asking right?

anyone looking to get rid of volumes I and II? i’m in the very early stages of a project that was mentioned out here in the fall. Not looking for any freebies! i would of course purchase the book’s and pay for all shipping.

finger’s crossed.

There's a volume one on ebay (buy it now) for 19.98 + 6.51 postage. That's pretty much the going rate (I bought volume one there about a year ago).

Volumes two and three are really difficult to get for under $100, but it is possible, if rare. You don't see them on ebay very often, and when you do, everybody and their brother wants it. I got outbid for volume 2 the last time I tried.

I replaced my vol. 1 around 6 months ago on Amazon for around fifteen bucks. Keep looking. It should be noted that Vol. 1 is waaaay out of date. There must be 50-100 new tapes plus upgrades since it came out.
I wish I could find the Addendum.

Meantime,I suggest thumbing through the reviews on archive, ignoring the ones that are either snooty (I've heard better or the sound sucks) or too giddy. Some reviewers such as Dr. Flashback are pretty reliable for objectivity and insight.

i'm heading to cape breton island and pei in a little over a month to record kitchen parties and thought the comendium's, as big as they may be, would make for exellent traveling companions.

They are good reads. But beware that some of the reviewers go a bit overboard in their praise for certain shows like 8-27-72. In fact, it seems at times as if this is all they listen to, if not their entire lives. I can imagine them in some chat room or board posting links to concert dates and leaving brief messages encouraging one and all to take a listen.

Oh, wait . . . . that's what we do.

(They edit out the fights and animal references, though).

You will be right at home!

I got all three used on Amazon about 3 years ago for less than $50 combined. Can't imagine they've become that rare since.

Check out www.bookfinder.com for various sources. They also appear on Ebay from time to time, and usually can be had for much less than bookstore prices.
